I had been to Au d’Hex once before, for tea and cake, and so I already knew that it was a stunning venue.
However my previous visit had been in winter, and so when I painted Cindy-Lynn and Aloysius’s wedding there in summer, I was completely amazed by the sheer volume of roses in bloom!
The garden was an explosion of colour!
The whole wedding was absolutely gorgeous, and every scene could have been the inspiration for a painting. It was hard to settle on the final scene to paint, but I think Cindy made a great choice!
I painted this lovely couple under a beautiful trellis during the cocktail hour in the gardens, and carried on painting through the reception. They had their actual ceremony on a beautiful platform on the lake, and then their reception was held in the gardens, under a fairylight lit trellis of grapevines with a wonderful open air dance floor.
Their guests were beyond sweet, every couple of minutes there were people chatting to me and admiring the painting as it developed. They were also just so clearly full of excitement for the couple, and you could just feel the love throughout this wedding.
Such a huge thank you to Cindy Lynn and Aloysius for including me in their special day!
The beautiful photos were taken by Bronwyn Bloem 🙂
